Mission Statement
“With Jesus as our guide and walking by our side,
we learn to love and love to learn.”
Writing
At Saint Cecilia's, we love to write! We take our inspiration from many sources and stimuli including books, trips and days out, audio and video clips and our own experiences. We work on our sentence structure and vocabulary coupled with adding dramatic conventions such as tension and suspense with the aim of bringing our writing to life. We use the evidence-based Ready Steady Write scheme by Literacy Counts as our whole-school writing curriculum. We place high-quality, language-rich vehicle texts at the core of our teaching to inspire a love of communication. Our teachers guide pupils through a structured four-part sequence: Immerse, Analyse, Plan, and Write. We build confidence through daily sentence accuracy sessions, explicit vocabulary teaching, and modelled example texts. Spoken language and drama are prioritised to help children organise their ideas before writing. This consistent, scaffolded approach ensures all students develop into independent, fluent, and highly successful communicators.
Writing Ambassadors 2025 - 2026
Our dedicated Writing Ambassadors play a vital role in championing a love of writing across our school community. By sharing creative ideas and leading initiatives within their classrooms, they act as inspiring role models for their peers. We are incredibly proud of their commitment and the fantastic impact they have on our vibrant culture of literacy.
